For this project, we applied an Epoxy coating to a 30 year old indoor pool that we were told would cost $5000 to re-plaster. We used Ramuc type EP Epoxy. It has a 5 year warranty. First step was to drain the pool. Once drained, it had to sit empty for 7 days to allow all moisture to evaporate from the plaster. 2Nd step was surface preparation. We water blasted the surface to remove all loose paint, dirt, oils, and grease. We then cleaned with a Tri-Sodium Phosphate (TSP) wash, scrubbing surface to get rid of oil, dirt, salt, and then etched with a 15-20% solutions of muriatic acid. Then thoroughly rinsed with TSP & flushed with plenty of fresh water and allowed to dry thoroughly. Since we live in Las Vegas, and it was the middle of the summer it only took 48 hours to dry after the cleaning. 3rd step was to tape the pool off. As to prevent paint from getting on the tile, drains or jets. To apply Epoxy coating we used the roller method with a 1/2″ phenolic core roller. With this epoxy we had to make sure the roller was kept wet. Rolled in one direction

then cross rolled. We opted to use gas mask type breathing apparatuses due to the very toxic fumes the epoxy creates. This whole job was done for about $1800. The pool’s dimensions are 25′ X 15′ X 9′. We visit the pool every 2 weeks for maintenance and to insure proper operation of the heater.
