Refrigerator Maintenance
This is actually an important item to maintenance. When was the last time you had your refrigerator tuned up????? If your like most people……probably never! Have you seen the price of these appliances new? I recently had an issue with my refrigerator (today). My issue however was not related to lack of maintenance, it was a blown ptc relay. But that’s another blog. I pulled my fridge away from the wall to diagnose and repair it and was appalled at what I found! It was at that point I realized, we have lived in this house for three years and I have never done any maintenance on my fridge. There was soooo much dust under my fridge, I could peel it off the condenser coils in sheets! The condenser is located under neath the fridge. Through the use of cool air flow provided by the condenser fan, the condenser cools the hot gas and converts it to liquid. The condenser is made of copper to help transfer heat. Now if there is a 14 inch of dust on the condenser coils the heat is not transferring correctly. Which means the refrigerant is not
cecompletely making the state change from a gas to a liquid. This causes an increased system operating temperature, higher pressures, less effective cooling ,longer cycle times (which equates to more energy consumption, don’t get me started on power prices) and last but not least premature failure.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Or major bank account depletion. Get some maintenance on your refrigerator. How much dirt is under your fridge?????????
